Padró i Familia looks back fondly at vermouth awards received in 2020
A Grand Gold Bacchus and other awards for the Padró family winery
The arrival of 2021 brings with it the hope that little by little we will recover normality and be able to move on from the coronavirus crisis. Despite the difficulties we all experienced during 2020, Padró & Co. has some good news to report.
Once again, our vermouths received some recognition in major Spanish and international competitions. The XVIII International Bacchus Wine Competition was held in Madrid in March, just a few days before the state of emergency was declared here in Spain. The competition included, for the very first time, a specific category for vermouth and our vermouths came under the scrutiny of a panel made up of one hundred international experts. Our Padró & Co. Rojo Amargo was awarded the Grand Gold Bacchus for Best Vermouth, the top award in the contest. In addition, we were thrilled to receive the Gold Bacchus for our Rojo Clásico as well as two Silver Bacchus Awards for our Reserva Especial and our Dorado Amargo Suave.
Bacchus is part of VINOFED, the federation that brings together some of the most prestigious wine competitions worldwide. It is recognized by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, making this the most important international wine industry event held in Spain.
Our Padró & Co. and Myrrha vermouths make their mark at the World Vermouth Awards and the Catalan Vinari Awards
In May, our Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico won a Silver medal and our Blanco Reserva, a Bronze medal in the Best Sweet Vermouth in the World category at the III World Vermouth Awards in London. These medals add to others awarded previously in this competition. Now all five of our Padró & Co. vermouths stand proud on the podium at the World Vermouth Awards.
Good news also from our Vinari Awards here in Catalonia. Our vermouth Myrrha Rojo received the Gold Vinari for Best Red Vermouth. Furthermore, our Padró & Co. Blanco Reserva won a bronze medal in these benchmark awards for Catalan wines and vermouths.
All this recognition for our vermouths fills us with great satisfaction here at Padró i Familia and inspires us in our endeavours to help spread the vermouth word around the world. It also motivates us to implement new projects at our Casa Vermouth Padró here in Bràfim, where vermouth lovers and indeed, anyone who is curious to know more, can come and visit and learn. Stay tuned: more news coming as and when we regain mobility.
