Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico: Mediterranean charm

There is something very captivating about our Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico, a delightfulness that turns the custom of drinking vermouth into a veritable celebration.

Our Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico is a tribute to the vermouth of yesteryear, that distinctive red vermouth whose herbal, almost medicinal aromas, infused neighbourhood and village bars in Spain. We wanted to keep the spirit of this most traditional of all vermouths alive, but in a more graceful form, taking care of even the smallest details during the vermouth-making process at our winery.

We start by harvesting Macabeo and Xarel·lo grapes from our Padró family vineyards and using them to make the base wine for our Rojo Clásico. After the first winter, we add our very special red vermouth herb infusion. Our Rojo Clásico vermouth then rests in barrels previously used in the sixties to transport and store sherry. The vermouth absorbs all the memories held in the wood from its previous life acquiring different nuances during the resting process, which takes between nine and twelve months.

Cocktails and pairing suggestions for our most traditional craft vermouth

The exquisite flavours of our Rojo Clásico with hints of Mediterranean herbal plants and the unmistakable character of this vermouth lift a simple aperitif into the realms of a gourmet experience.

The persistent creamy and refreshing sensations of our Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico on the palate pair well with smoked fish dishes, such as orange salmon or tuna carpaccio. A simple anchovy canapé with a base of toasted bread also makes an exquisite and easy-to-prepare aperitif pairing for this vermouth.

The versatile character of our Rojo Clásico also makes it an ideal vermouth for mixing delicious cocktails; from the more classical combinations, such as the world-famous Manhattan or Blood & Sand, to more daring propositions such as our Royal Devil.

Recognition for Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico

Competition panels all over the world have applauded the delicate complexity of our Rojo Clásico. Most recently, the judges at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2022 awarded a Gold Medal to our vermouth.

Our most traditional premium vermouth also sits on the podium of other benchmark competitions. At the ISW Meininger’s International Spirits Awards 2021 in Germany, Rojo Clásico won a Gold Medal, the first accolade for Padró & Co. in the country. The vermouth has also received a Grand Gold Medal from the Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and 92 points from Peñín, the most comprehensive Spanish wine manual in the world.
